1. Before Anything, Find the Right Fit

First things first, insert your Audien ION device into your ear canal to find the perfect fit.

Test the different sized ear tips and find one that creates a snug seal in your ear. Rotate or wiggle the device gently to find the most comfortable insertion angle.

The perfect fit minimizes feedback and ensures maximum comfort.

2. Find the Right Volume Level & Hearing Mode

After fitting your ION hearing aids, it’s time to adjust the volume.

Start at the lowest volume setting and gradually increase until it feels right.

The Audien ION offers multiple volume levels, indicated by a quick double beep for each increase, making it easy to find the perfect setting for your needs.

For changing the mode, hold the button down for 3 seconds until you hear a beep. Switch through modes optimized for different environments like conversations, noisy settings, or outdoor activities.

The different modes are:

  • Mode 1: Conversation - 1 beep
  • Mode 2: Noisy Environment - 2 beeps
  • Mode 3: Road/Vehicle - 3 beeps
  • Mode 4: Outdoors - 4 beeps

3. Insert Your Hearing Aids Carefully to Avoid Whistling and Feedback

Some users report whistling and feedback when inserting their hearing aids.

This often happens if the volume is too high. Set the volume to a comfortable level and avoid putting pressure on the microphone during insertion.

Proper insertion technique, as detailed in the manual, helps minimize or eliminate feedback and whistling.

4. Only Wear Them a Few Hours a Day (to Start)

While it would be fantastic to be able to jump into wearing your hearing aids all day everyday from the moment they land on your doorstep, it doesn’t always work that way.

It’s best to ease into wearing your hearing aids.

Start with just a few hours a day to let your ears and brain adjust to the new sensations and sounds. Gradually increase the duration as you become more comfortable.

5. Expect a Little Frustration at First

It’s normal to feel some discomfort or irritation as you adjust to wearing your Audien ION hearing aids.

Give yourself time to adapt. The slight irritation will improve as your ear canals get used to the device.

Before you know it, you won’t even notice they’re there—just that you’re able to hear again better than ever!

7. Gradually Build Up Usage, and Keep Using Your Hearing Aids

The key to getting used to your new hearing aids is consistent use.

Start with 1-2 hours a day during the first week, increase to 3-4 hours a day in the second week, and aim to wear them all day by the third or fourth week.

Consistency will help your ears and brain adjust, making the devices feel like a natural part of your daily routine.
